Play as an AI lab: Paradigm's new game simulates recursive self-improvement

Paradigm has released a web game and an interactive explorer based on the paper 'The Economics of Recursive Self-Improvement' to illustrate the dynamics of AI R&D. Players manage an AI lab, investing in compute, data, and labor to achieve self-sustaining acceleration. The tools are calibrated for pedagogy, not prediction, and highlight key insights such as weak links, spurts of progress, and the importance of parameterization.

Recursive self-improvement may come in spurts.

Universal Paperclips is much better and also that's what is going to happen to all of us.

Pretty fun. A little one-dimensional but a good insight into how a VC thinks about RSI. My second attempt was almost exactly the same outcome as the first, despite a different capital allocation.

Interesting that revenue only exceeded costs once AGI was invented
