The Billable Usage API: programmatic cost visibility for Cloudflare

Cloudflare launches Billable Usage API for real-time cost visibility

Cloudflare's new Billable Usage API gives self-serve accounts a single endpoint to pull usage and cost data for all usage-based products, including Workers, R2, D1, Workers AI, Vectorize, Images, and Stream. The API returns daily-updated rows per product and charge period, with fields aligned to the FinOps FOCUS specification. Cloudflare also partnered with Vantage to integrate this data into its cost management platform, enabling cross-provider allocation, anomaly detection, and FinOps agent queries.

If a program is spending money in your Cloudflare account, you need to know what it's spending; throughout the day, per product, in a shape another program can consume.

A while ago, I noticed some very small oscillations in my Cloudflare R2 bill (1-2 cents / month) and decided to ask about it out of curiosity. Support was tepid - understandable for my $1 / month account - and it wasn't until later that I realized the difference probably had to do with the number of days in the month.

    Would this API have helped?

Translated: Close, but still not hard cost cap at Cloudflare.
