I built NerdLens, an open-source proof of concept that streams your desktop to a Google Cardboard headset via an iPhone. Using a wired USB connection and simple JPEG compression, this experiment lets you view your computer screen in VR without expensive hardware or cloud streaming. It is designed for hackers and curious developers willing to build from source on macOS and iOS.
No expensive headset. No cloud streaming. Just a phone, a cardboard viewer, and an arguably unreasonable amount of curiosity.
