Amid Increased Scrutiny, ICE Detention and Deportation Data Goes Dark

ICE Detention Data Goes Dark Amid Scrutiny and Rising Deaths

Following fatal shootings of immigrants by ICE agents, the agency has stopped releasing its mandatory detention and deportation reports since April. This silence angers both conservatives seeking proof of enforcement and progressives demanding accountability. While DHS cites government shutdowns, critics argue the delay hides the true scope of mass deportations, prompting lawsuits from groups like The Oversight Project and The Deportation Data Project to force transparency.

Even if there is a good reason for not releasing this information, it still gives the impression they are trying to hide something.

First you try to record the ICE officers, then the ICE officers pepper spray you, then Alex Pretti steps in, then they tackle him, take his gun, and murder him in cold blood.

Then the feds grab the evidence to make sure the investigation has as little to go on as humanly possible.

    Now this.

    The information lockdown continues apace.

Same thing happened the last time we went through this circus. I'm only surprised it took this long for them to shut off access.
