Big Tech Is Now Targeting Native American Land for Data Centers

Big Tech Targets Native American Land for Massive Data Centers

I explored how the data center boom is reshaping Native American communities, where Big Tech companies seek rapid approvals for massive facilities. This push forces tribal leaders to weigh urgent economic development against a painful history of exploitation, creating a complex struggle for sovereignty and future well-being.

True wealth is the well-being of our families.

The tribes have a history of being more pragmatic about buildings that would be considered distasteful elsewhere. Smart to at least explore this option, and if deals can be made then it seems like a fine outcome.

Talk about "data sovereignty"--imagine if people begin finding out that their data "lives" on servers under jurisdiction of some tribal authority, instead of/alongside the United States!

Sovereign Indian tribles can practically get away with murder compared to entities that are regulated by ordinary US law. I was recently the victim of some kind of tribal predatory loan service that was way off in Northern California. I looked into it, and determined that there was basically nothing I could do to pursue it legally. It is unclear whether a "tribal loan account" could be legally pursued by ordinary US collection agencies, but it's rather crazy to imagine that kind of activity that targets ordinary Americans.
