Taylor Farms recalls salsa and guacamole over salmonella risk

Taylor Farms announced a voluntary recall of prepared foods containing jalapeños, including salsas and guacamole, due to potential salmonella contamination. The move follows a Coast Citrus Distributors recall of fresh peppers linked to an outbreak that has sickened 345 people across 27 states, with 36 hospitalizations. Taylor Farms has stopped sourcing from a Sinaloa, Mexico farmer identified as the likely source. The company is also under scrutiny for a separate cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to its lettuce from central Mexico.
Taylor said it is unaware of any reported illnesses linked to the voluntarily recalled items.
