A Bookstore with a Single Book: Morioka Shoten's Radical Idea

Morioka Shoten in Ginza, Tokyo, sells only one book at a time, for six days a week. Owner Yoshiyuki Morioka, a former bookstore clerk, conceived the idea to deepen the reader's connection to each book. The store is housed in the historic Suzuki Building, a landmark of Japanese modernism. Takram, as branding director, designed a rhombic logo symbolizing an open book and a single room, incorporating the store's address to honor the location's genius loci. The venture was born from a chance encounter at a Takram academy lecture.

A single book will offer deeper understanding and a closer relationship with the reader as well as the essential pleasure of book reading.
