Azulejo represents a unique form of Iberian painted tin-glazed ceramic tilework that serves both ornamental and functional purposes. Originating from Arabic traditions, these tiles evolved through Spanish and Portuguese history, blending Islamic geometric patterns with European Renaissance influences. I assumed the word was derived from "azul" but from the article, it's apparently derived from the Arabic الزليج (al-zillīj) and has no relation with "azul"
