Amiga-Inspired AROS Goes Bare Metal on Raspberry Pi

AROS, the Amiga-Inspired OS, Now Boots Bare-Metal on Raspberry Pi

The Amiga-derived AROS Research Operating System has been ported to run bare-metal on the Raspberry Pi, with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. This marks a shift from running AROS virtually on Linux, offering a lightweight OS with fast boot times rivaling RISC OS. Currently targeting the Pi 3, support for Pi 4 and Zero 2 W is in discussion. While some software has been recompiled for ARM, the library isn't as full-featured as x86 yet, but that's expected to improve.

Yes, there’s a 64-bit Amiga-compatible OS that runs on ARM. It truly is a time of wonders.
