The Kids' Guide to Piracy: How to Download Media with Torrents
I wrote this guide for younger generations who grew up with streaming and never learned how to download media files directly. I explain the basics of torrenting, recommend clients like qBittorrent and Transmission, and walk you through using trackers like 1337x.to. While I jokingly claim this is only for public domain content, I admit the real use is for copyrighted movies and shows, so I also mention using a VPN to hide your activity from your ISP.
While it’s true that the advice here could be employed to download recent movies and TV shows that are under copyright, and that that is its primary application, it’s cerrrtainnnly not my intention that you use it for such purposes.

I can imagine an updated Pirates of the Carribean with pirates sitting at computers running bittorrent clients.
A slightly plump johnny depp wearing a pr8bay T-shirt while sipping mountain dew would cheer it on.

Then call it the guide to torrenting?
And yes, a VPN is a requirement. It's reckless to present a guide without a stronger emphasis on this.

I got shut off for seeding Wrestlemania. No warnings or letters. Just a disconnect. AT&T fiber, I believe.
I reached support who told me the reasoning. I fed that tech a line saying I let a house-sitter use my computer while out of town and they reinstatated me.
I got kind of disproportionately agitated decided to learn networking/security, so I can figure out just how much they (the ISP) knows, are able to know, and how I can mitigate it. Now, here we are.
