Why aren't smart people happier? IQ tests miss wisdom

Across 50 years of General Social Survey data from 30,346 people, higher vocabulary-test scores correlated with slightly lower happiness (r = -.06, p < .001). Intelligence tests measure well-defined problem-solving, but life's biggest questions—love, career, parenting—are poorly defined and require different skills like wisdom.
