Three Minutes of Sprinting Beats 90 Minutes of Moderate Exercise

A new study reveals that brief, intense sprint-interval exercise (SIE) triggers a vastly different and more extensive plasma protein and metabolite response than longer, moderate-intensity exercise (MIE). After just 30-second all-out sprints, 714 proteins changed in the blood, compared to only 7 after 90 minutes of moderate cycling. Many of these sprint-induced proteins are linked to cardiometabolic protection, suggesting that high-intensity exercise may offer unique health benefits in a fraction of the time.

Exercise intensity distinctly influenced the plasma proteome and metabolome in untrained and trained participants.
