GaussianSplatting.jl 2.0: Multi-GPU, MCMC, and Sky Dome

GaussianSplatting.jl 2.0 brings major upgrades to 3D Gaussian splatting in Julia. It now supports AMD, NVIDIA, and Apple GPUs via a single kernel, and features a multithreaded UI that stays responsive during heavy tasks. New capabilities include MCMC densification for precise control of Gaussian counts, depth and geometry supervision for better reconstruction, and a Sky Dome to disentangle backgrounds. The update also adds automatic checkpointing, custom hyperparameters, and camera path saving.

The overhead of Sky Dome is negligible (~32K Gaussians) comparing to the rest of the scene (millions of Gaussians).

    Having this work on Apple metal is huge for the accessibility around training splats. I remember two years ago I needed an RTX Nvidia GPU to run things like splatfacto on nerfstudio. Very neat optimizations as well like the depth map and sky dome, 3dgs has come a long way. Awesome!
