As a Zig core team member, I share how our incremental compilation feature now allows complex applications to rebuild in milliseconds. By caching intermediate representations and modeling dependencies through analysis units, we detect changes at the function level and patch binaries directly. This approach, refined over years, turns what was once a proof-of-concept into a daily tool for the team, drastically speeding up the edit-compile-test loop.
