Florida Man Arrested for Stealing Crypto via Malware-Infected Steam Games

Federal authorities have arrested Zyaire Wilkins for allegedly stealing over $220,000 in cryptocurrency using malware embedded in eight Steam games. The investigation revealed that the conspirators marketed these infected titles on social media, infecting thousands of devices and draining crypto wallets. Investigators traced Wilkins to his location by following a digital trail that included Bitcoin transactions and Uber Eats gift card purchases.

Federal agents linked Wilkins to the case after obtaining his crypto wallet address in messages with an alleged co-conspirator, eventually tracing the funds to Uber Eats gift cards that revealed his phone number and address.
