Why Handing Off Details to AI Is Not Empowering

It's not empowering to hand off the details

I argue that the excitement around AI often stems from a desire to bypass the messy details of creation. However, true expertise and novelty require deep, meticulous engagement with those very details. You cannot be good at something without knowing which parts to delegate, and that knowledge only comes from mastering the work yourself. Relying on LLMs to do the heavy lifting without understanding the fundamentals is the opposite of empowerment.
