Which Real-World Jobs Does Anime Actually Show?

I scanned nearly 22,000 anime titles to map real-world occupations against the ISCO-08 standard. While teachers dominate older series, shopkeepers now lead in the 2020s. Surprisingly, seventeen plausible jobs, like financial analysts, are never named in the entire corpus. This project uses LLMs to distinguish actual roles from fantasy titles, revealing the hidden gaps in how anime portrays the modern workforce.
Of the ~150 jobs a character could plausibly be named as, anime never names 17 — even across millions of lines of dialogue.
