New Study Finds No Link Between Acetaminophen Use During Pregnancy and Adverse Birth Outcomes
No link between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and adverse birth outcomes
Our latest research analyzing over 8,900 mother-infant pairs in the NIH's ECHO program reveals no statistically significant evidence that acetaminophen use during pregnancy negatively impacts gestational age or birth weight. While we found an association with lower odds of a child being born large-for-gestational-age, these findings offer important reassurance for the widespread use of Tylenol to treat pain and fever during pregnancy.
"Given the widespread use of acetaminophen, these findings offer important reassurance about its safety with respect to birth timing and infant size."
