Why Real V-I Plots Matter: Capturing Authentic Semiconductor Data at Home
Tech note: making your own V-I plots at home

I grew tired of fake diagrams in electronics textbooks, so I built a custom setup to capture real V-I curves for my book. Using a Rohde & Schwarz SMU, pulsed power, and mineral oil cooling, I recorded accurate data for diodes and MOSFETs. This process revealed how real components diverge from idealized models, proving that authentic measurements are essential for understanding circuit behavior.
"My beef with the diagrams in popular electronics textbooks and online tutorials is that most of them are fake."
