PlayStation Can Delete Your Digital Games After 3 Years of Inactivity in EU
PlayStation can delete all your digital games after 3 years of inactivity (EU)

PlayStation is facing backlash after users discovered that European terms of service allow Sony to delete accounts and all purchased digital games following 36 months of inactivity. While this policy predates GDPR, it raises serious concerns about digital ownership, especially as the company plans to abandon physical discs by 2028. Unlike Microsoft, which protects accounts with digital purchases, Sony retains the right to permanently close inactive accounts, potentially erasing years of game libraries.
"The key difference is that digital games can be withdrawn in practice, whereas a physical disc cannot, provided it contains the full game and does not require online activation or similar restrictions."
